The Rasbeary family was sent out of the Trinity Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas, pastored at the time by Dr. Bob W. Smith, to start a new church in the Wylie area. On October 1, 2000, the church held its first service with 11 in attendance. The church grew steadily and by the end of the first year had purchased an existing church property just north of downtown Wylie. This property included an auditorium, a two-story building, and an unfinished gym. From the first service with 11 people, the ministry of the church has increased in many different directions.
On October 4, 2020, Lighthouse Baptist Church celebrated her 20th anniversary.
On October 18, the church called Bro. Eric Coombs to be her new pastor with the transition taking place on November 29, 2020.
